OUR HISTORY

Over the years, at Elawan Energy, we have pursued sustained and continuous growth, reflected in the development and construction of new projects, reaching over 10 GW promoted and more than 2,1 GW in operation worldwide.

Creation of Gestamp Wind and construction of the first wind farm.

International expansion to Brazil, USA, Puerto Rico, Poland, Belgium, Turkey, and South Africa, reaching 780 MW in operation.

Rebranding from Gestamp Wind to Elawan Energy. International growth continues (Mexico, Colombia, France, Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and Argentina), asset sales, and the start of solar projects. 714 MW in operation, 420 MW under construction.

Elawan Energy’s shareholders agreed to sell a majority stake to ORIX Corp (S&P: A-; Market Cap > $22B).

Dionisio Fernández Auray

CEO

CEO and Founder of Elawan Energy. Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with an MBA from the Pontifical University of Comillas and the Senior Management Program (PADE) from IESE Business School. He has over 25 years of experience leading international energy and infrastructure projects. With a well-established strategic vision, he has been the key driving force behind the company’s growth and expansion, from its beginnings as Gestamp Wind to its integration into the Japanese ORIX group.

Pedro García Crespo

Chief Investment Officer

Since 2011 he has led the global investment strategy, covering structured finance and M&A transactions in international markets. A Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Executive MBA from IE Business School, he has over 20 years of experience in developing and managing large-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia.

Ignacio Pérez Feito

Chief Financial Officer

With over 27 years of experience in finance, working for multinational companies across sectors such as Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, Communications, Technology, and Publishing. He holds a double degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as a Master’s in Integrated Management Control (Business Controller) from the Madrid College of Economists. Since 2011, he has been leading the global and local teams in all geographies where the Elawan Energy group operates, covering Accounting, Tax, Financial Control, Consolidation & External Audit, Treasury, and Information Systems.

Jorge Basteiro Monje

Head of Legal​ and Compliance

Chief Legal & Compliance Officer and Secretary of the Board at Elawan Energy, with over 9 years of experience in the company. He holds a Law degree from the University of Oviedo and an LL.M. in Corporate Legal Advisory from IE, bringing solid expertise in legal and compliance matters.

María Riva Cabanas

Global Head of Risk Management and Insurance

With over 15 years of experience at the company, she currently leads the Global Risk Management and Insurance for all assets, as well as coordinating the 400 kV Grid Node Management in shared environments with large corporate groups. She holds a Degree in Technical Architecture from the University of A Coruña and is a Senior Technician in Occupational Risk Prevention, with additional training in Architectural Pathology and Restoration, as well as Urban Planning. Throughout her career at Elawan Energy, she has held roles in the Development area—where she drove wind projects in Galicia and Asturias—and was part of the QHSE department, actively contributing to achieving ISO and OHSAS certifications in 2012.

Adrián Fernández Fernández

Chief Construction & Operations Officer

Industrial Engineer with a degree from the University of Oviedo, with over 15 years of international experience in renewable energy, he leads the engineering, construction, procurement, and operations areas at Elawan Energy. His approach combines technical excellence and strategic vision to maximize operational efficiency and sustainability.

Carlos Hormaechea Balandín

Chief Technical Officer

Industrial Engineer from the ETSII of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. With over 20 years of experience in renewable energy, he has led key areas in the company, such as the Technical Office. Specialized in the technical management of wind, solar PV, storage, and green hydrogen projects, he has participated in numerous international projects across more than 20 countries. He has added value at every stage of the project life cycle—from initial development through commercial operation—focusing on improving profitability and reducing risks.

Alejandro Burgaleta García Mansilla

Chief Strategy Officer

CSO of Elawan Energy. Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with an EMBA from IESE Business School and Master’s degrees in Operations Research, Refining Industry, and Petrochemicals. With a solid track record in the energy sector, he has been instrumental in Elawan Energy’s growth since its inception, initially leading the finance area and now steering the corporate strategy.

Ana Jordán Bosgos

Head of Human Resources

Human Resources leader with over 25 years of experience in multinational companies across diverse sectors. She has driven strategic cultural transformation projects, collaborating closely with executive teams in global environments. She holds a degree in Psychology with a specialization in Human Resources from the Complutense University of Madrid, combining strategic vision with solid, results-oriented operational execution.

Diego García Cuenca

Head of Revenue Management & PPA Origination

Industrial Engineer from the Pontifical University of Comillas ICAI, where he also completed two Master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering and the Electric Sector (MEPI). He has a strong international track record in commercial management and revenue optimization in emerging renewables markets. He has led energy management, corporate PPA negotiations, and revenue maximization of renewable assets in LATAM and EMEA.

Ignacio Puertas Puchol

Green Hydrogen BU Business Development Manager

Head of the Green Hydrogen business unit and Project Manager for wind, solar, and storage. Ignacio holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is a graduate of the Executive Programme in Energy Storage Technologies and Markets at EOI. He has extensive experience in renewable projects and international cooperation and collaborates with the Polytechnic University of Madrid on the ERMA Master’s in Renewable Energies and Environment.

Leticia Alamán París

Head of Promotion and Grid Connection

Industrial Technical Engineer from the University of Zaragoza, with a European Master’s in Renewable Energies. With over 20 years of experience, she leads project development, grid management, connection points, promotion, and commissioning in Spain at Elawan Energy. Her approach and ability to liaise with authorities and key partners make her a strategic pillar of the team.

Eduardo García Molina

Spain and Brazil Country Manager​

Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with over 25 years of experience in the energy sector. He has made a direct contribution to the development of what is today the company’s project portfolio.

Carlos Rodríguez Tortosa

Development Director and Country Manager South Africa

Director of Business Development areas and co-founder of Elawan Energy. Industrial Engineer from Brunel University London. He has 25 years of experience developing and leading international projects in the industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors. He has overseen business development both in Spain and in emerging markets such as South Africa, playing a key role in Elawan Energy’s internationalization from its inception.

Jaime Poves López

France, Poland, Romania, Italy, Greece and Portugal Country Manager

Graduate in Law, Economics, and Business Administration, with over 20 years of international experience in the renewable energy sector, specializing in business development and market entry. He has led strategic projects and multidisciplinary teams in technologies such as wind, photovoltaics, hybridization, and storage. He is currently Country Manager for France, Italy, Poland, Greece, and Romania, driving Elawan Energy’s growth in Europe.

Industrial Technical Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with over 17 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and a distinguished international career. He currently leads business development in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Turkey, where he drives the company’s growth and secures key strategic partnerships.

Gonzalo Rodríguez Tortosa

Chief Business Officer USA

Chief Business Officer in the United States and a member of the team that founded Elawan Energy. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glasgow and an MBA from ENAE Business School. He has over 15 years of experience in renewable energy—most of it at Elawan Energy—leading growth in the United States since 2009, from its beginnings as Gestamp Wind North America to its current integration into the Japanese ORIX group.

Alfonso Fernández Valera

Mexico Country Manager​

Forest and Natural Environment Engineer with a Master’s in Renewable Energies from the University of Castilla–La Mancha. With over 25 years of experience in renewable energy, he specializes in the development, construction, operation, and financial structuring of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and emerging technologies such as battery storage and green hydrogen. He currently leads asset management and the development of a portfolio exceeding 1,000 MW as Country Manager in Mexico at Elawan Energy.

Benoit Henriet

Belgium Country Manager

A wind industry professional since 2006, he co-founded and developed two project development companies, later acquired by EDPR and Elawan Energy. He currently serves as Country Manager for Elawan Energy in Belgium, where he leads all operational and development activities. His career reflects a strong commitment to the energy transition and recognized expertise in the Belgian wind market.
